"They broke the lease and ghosted because I asked them to scoop their cats sh*t."

"You are gaslighting me, you are trying to make me look bad by bullying me"

I lived with my bf, his brother, and his brother's gf- and let me tell you, never live with family unless you're ready for war. These two acted like cleaning was ab e, and boundaries were betrayal.

At first everything was fine! We got along great, had weekly game nights, and there was peace in the house. That is, until I started asking for help with basic cleaning.

Ya know, sweeping the floors, wiping down the counters, cleaning the toilet. I politely called for a house meeting and mentioned that I thought it would be good to have things on a "rotating schedule"- literally asking them to sweep 1-2 times a month.

Up until this point, I had only ever seen them load their dishes into the dishwasher (never unload) and wash their laundry.

They were seething. They didn't have to say it, she had her arms crossed the entire time glaring at me. Suddenly they didn't have time for game nights. I asked if she'd like to go thrifting and she flatly said "no."

If I left a single macaroni noodle in the drain there was a group text about how it "wasn't okay". The vibe was tense. They didn't clean. They stopped greetings.

I sort of gave up and decided to stop cleaning up after other people. Stove dirty? Yep, it is... how odd. Floors full of cat hair? That s ks. I stayed cooped up in my room. But then.

She didn't scoop her cats litter box for what had to be two weeks. At first I didn't notice, but then one day after a steamy shower this rancid smell wafted into the air and I almost threw up.

I peered inside and could see what I could only describe as а a. and sh litter lasagna. A solid brick if you will.

I sent a brief text saying "hey! I noticed this litter box has been getting a little smelly. Would you guys mind scooping it daily?" Oh boy. A barrage of texts came in.

"If you're home then why don't you do it?" "I already do it everyday" "You're making it up that it smells" "I'm busy all the time and now I have to clean, you're asking too much". "You are gaslighting me, you are trying to make me look bad by bullying me" "You're don't see me _about your hair products in the shower".

It kickstarted a I apologized if I came off rude, explained it wasn't my intent. But it was too late. She actually got very upset that I apologized, and said that I was trying to "manipulate what actually happened". If I ignored. her, I "clearly hated her." She called me a bully, had no interest in being my friend.

The tension got so bad that I dreaded being at home. The other couple began to say sh under their breath when I walked into the room. I was quietly removed from a few discord channels. Passive aggressive sticky notes. Throwing my clean laundry on the floor.

bf It didn't take long for my to finally snap at them. He was "done playing nice" and called them out for their behavior. Not giving them a chance to twist the situation. Telling her he would not talk to her, because he was done with her disrespecting me.

She broke down in tears shaking, calling us "abusers". Trembling hands as she said she was traumatized and couldn't breathe. Calling "mommy" on the phone asking for financial help.

The next day they gave us a 6 days notice they would be gone. They broke the lease early, and my bf rolled his eyes and said whatever- after all we were the ones who could afford this place.

To make it easy on his brother we didn't demand a 30 day notice. We just let it go. We thought it could be semi cordial.

But then his brother cut the wifi off in the middle of the day with no warning. We work from home btw. It will take a week to get new service.

She began to remove plates cups, furniture that weren't hers, saying "but I love this and I was the only one who used it". Sorry toots. She started slamming doors. Crying as she was packing.

Today was their final day on the lease. We offered to turn their keys in to the landlord. They FLIPPED out and began to cuss us out. Throwing nearly everything I have ever confided to them in my face.

The brother stated "I have until tomorrow to turn the key in, so I will keep them for as long as I can. Don't you know the date dips t?" Their stuff was already gone... but okay.

They left flipping us off while screaming obscenities while we smiled and waved. Bonus? We noticed they had hidden cameras on the wifi network a few days before they left. Never thought to check. But absolutely violating.

Sweaty-Training-1055 , good riddance. Poor kitty though, I wonder if they'll start caring about scooping the litter box when the cat inevitably starts peeing all over their new place.
