High schooler wins $500 Staples gift card at hockey game, is forced to split it with friend’s entitled family, ends up with less than $20: ‘Her family was sneaky and got a laptop for over $480’

• When the halftime puck toss rolled around, our hero’s last $20 bought six chances at a Staples windfall, only for the family patriarch to swoop in with outstretched hands and a sense of entitlement that could fill the arena. The pucks, now bearing everyone else’s names, flew, and against all odds, the original ticket holder actually won. Cue the entire family stampeding onto the ice for the photo op, as if they’d all scored the prize together.
