If there is one thing that memes can be relied upon to do, it is push things to the limit in one way or another. They are known for being risqué and providing punchlines that, at times, go further than some people would like them to. Even the ones that play it safe often work by disrupting our expectations in some way. We want to be surprised.

While not every meme can be completely groundbreaking, that doesn't stop it from having the power of making us stop and think for half a second. It is a skill that no other form of media achieves so efficiently. However dumb it may be, they stop at nothing to get their particular message across. We have to be glad of that because of the number of opportunities it gives us to be entertained, scandalized, interested, or merely not bored. These examples are no exception.
