Growing up in a home where you feel like a constant burden can't possibly be healthy for a child who just wants to feel comfortable with their own existence. Stories of parents taking out their own insecurities on their children are unfortunate, especially because they are not few and far between. These stories are actually quite common, and it's a shame that folks who clearly didn't want kids ended up having them anyway. A child deserves to be nurtured and comforted, and there is no excuse for an absence of such.
This next story illustrates just how unfortunate these situations can get. A 17-year-old explains that her mother constantly picks fights with her over the smallest things, never admits defeat in an argument when she is clearly in the wrong, and threatens to kick her out at any point of emotional dissonance in their relationship. You'll probably agree that it's best for everyone if the teen skips out on her living situation and figures out life on her own, but she's a minor with no real means to support herself. So, she is stuck in this unfortunate limbo with a sad excuse for a support system.
When the teen's mom tries to hold the teen's father's assets over her head, the teen retorts with the legal facts regarding asset distribution in their country. What would you do if you were in her shoes?
