This woman's mother-in-law developed a lovely little habit of showing up to their house at night—completely unannounced—and acting offended when there wasn’t a plate of pasta waiting for her. Now look, when I’m in my PJs after a long day of work, I don’t want anyone knocking on my door. Not the neighbors. Not even my best friend. Sometimes, you just need peace, quiet, and boundaries. This MIL wasn’t having any of it.

Mother-in-law keeps showing up unannounced at night, woman set boundaries by locking her out: 'She's playing the victim'
Mother-in-law relationships can be the secret glue that holds a family together... or the wedge that drives a couple apart. Some MILs are normal and respect your space, bring over cookies and take the kids for the weekend. Others show up unannounced, question your parenting, and somehow expect you to have a three-course meal waiting for them at 9 p.m. on a Tuesday.
It's a dynamic that's either beautifully supportive or endlessly stressful, with very little in between. And when your partner refuses to set boundaries with their mom, guess who ends up stuck playing bad cop?
