‘This is where it gets weird’: Cat parents realize their black cat is playing with someone that isn't there, and it looks exactly like how their last kitten used to play

Me and my wife witnessed a full play session between my living Black cat and my recently passed Cat

'We started crying and immediately knew Xavier was still with us'

(We couldn't believe what we were seeing. Has anyone seen something like this? Or seen some story about this type of behavior? We have been looking and haven't found similar posts.)

Last night me and my girl were watching TV. Everything normal. My Black cat was having his zoomies. Just as usual.
  • 04
Then he hops on the couch. And starts playing under a pillow. Like laying down making circles around the thing while trying to stay under the pillow. This is where it gets weird.
  • 05
He knocked the pillow down to the floor and was left playing with his tail. But then, his eyes started accompanying something. Tracking movements. And he was playing with it. He stood up. And started playing just as he plays with my

other cat. He went back an forth down the corridor running. And always seemingly eyeing something. Not a tiny mosquito. It was really like he was playing with the ghost of my recently passed kitten. (He passed on 30th of Dec-24, both cats haven't met). They were playing exactly as my past kitty played with my other cat

We were frightened. We started crying and immediately knew xavier was still with us. Guess I'm no longer atheist

ClassInte... I have two similar experiences.
  • 10
    1. My dad had a horrific car accident in 2004 that left him in a coma for 45 days. Then he was in rehab for two more months, learning how to be a person again. When he was finally awake and memories started coming back he told us something wild. Before he left the house that night, our long since passed, Lhasa Apso tried to sneak out the door between his feet.
  • 11
He heard his jingling collar before he looked down and saw him. My dad nudged him back into the house out of habit. That's when he remembered that our sweet Beauregard was de_d. We all think it was a warning or he was here to take my dad to wherever the next place is.

    2. A few years back I had three dogs in my pack. Our local rescue was over capacity and begging for fosters. I went in and asked for the oldest dog. He was a crusty, smelly, no teeth having, ollllld Chihuahua. They believed he'd been surviving on the streets for quite sometime. He had no name. So I called him Pee Paw.
  • 13
Slowly, he started to trust my dogs, husband, and self. I put a small bed in our bedroom so he could escape for quiet time whenever he liked. But at night, all my dogs sleep in the bed with us. He lived happily and loved for just a few short months of his life. On his final night he slept in

his usual spot curled into the small of my back. When I awoke I realized the bed was wet. Poor buddy had passed in his sleep still curled into his bedtime position. The wet was from his body letting go. I still cry thinking about it.
  • 15
We buried him in the back yard with my massive Canna Lilies. Two years later we adopted another dog, a 5lb puppy abandoned it a wet box. During potty training there was lots of us walking her into and out of the house for potty time. I found

myself counting for 5 dogs when we went back inside at night. I'd suddenly realize we only had 4. This kept happening when I was calling them for meals and whatever else.
  • 17
My husband is a firm non believer of anything he can't prove or see. So I didn't share this with him until a few months later while drinking wine. He got this wild looking face and said "ME TOO." He said he hadn't mentioned it because it doesn't
  • 18
make sense & he's not sure what it means lolol. I decided it was Pee Paw checking out the new puppy. Eventually, I didn't feel the 5th dog anymore. So I guess he's back to rest.

Key-Regret-7812 14h ago We had 2 cats and 2 dogs at the same time. They all got along and played well. One of our cats got very sick. Prior to his dth, the only place where he was comfortable sleeping was in the bathtub for some reason.

About a month after his passing, I was sitting in my office (near the bathroom where the cat used to sleep). The house was quiet until I heard one of my dogs bark. It was his happy playful bark so I disregarded it, knowing he was playing. I caught

I still completely believe that their buddy had come to say goodbye and to play one last time and we all saw him.

. dog-tongue1 · 12h ago I had a similar incident. I had two loving labradors since they were pups. They spent their entire lives with us before the oldest one, Sierra, passed away at 15.
  • 27
Before Sierra passed I asked her to come back for Auggie, the other one, when it was Auggie's time. Six months after her passing, Auggie's health took a turn for the worse and we were thinking that it was close to her time.
  • 28
I happened to be away on a trip the weekend her health turned. during that trip I had a dream where Sierra"s spirit came back to me, looked me in the eyes and without saying anything communicated, "I'm here now." I immediately woke up and knew it
  • 29
was Sierra. It was 3 AM in the morning. I immediately booked a flight home on the first flight out early that day. I made it back in time to spend the last day with Auggie before she too passed away.
  • 30
Had it not been for the returning spirit of Sierra, I would not have made it home in time. That incident made me a believer in dog spirits and our bond between and with them. We miss and love you, Sierra and Auggie.

JanieLFB 8h ago I grew up in a haunted house. We had one person and lots of animals.
  • 32
We three children all saw the lady looking out for us through our teen years. Wait, that wasn't Mom, it was the ghost again. I saw her in living color.
  • 33
Now onto the ghost animals. They liked hanging around us. They would run around and generally make a nuisance of themselves.
  • 34
My Dad, world's greatest skeptic, would take a large step and grumble about the under his feet. (The single cat was in the living room at that moment. So what exactly did Dad step over?) cat
  • 35
I told my children about the ghosts when they were older. I didn't want them to be scared when we visited my parents. I explained it like my Mom always told us, "The most a ghost will do to you is surprise you. What happens after that is your own fault." Lol.
  • 36
Anyway, my middle child is relaxing at the dining room table. The dining room was often the spot where even Dad saw things. Suddenly daughter asks, "There isn't an orange cat, is there? I just saw an orange cat!"
  • 37
Congratulations, honey, I think you caught sight of Garfield. He was the kitten we were handed outside of Montgomery Wards. Garfield seemed to be fine. (He had his kitten shots.). He got along with the dog. Garfield was just living his best life and growing up.
  • 38
All of our animals love us. They visit us when they think of us. I fully believe that time works differently on the Other Side. When we arrive, our animals will be amongst our welcoming party. To them it will be like they just left here and now we are there... ready to continue loving each other.
