  • "WOW! THAT'S how you're going to play it? We just want to swim."
  • "neighbors using my pool and get upset when i ask them to leave"

just discovered this sub and this happened about a year ago
  • wife and i bought a house with a pool. it was part of our search criteria. found a house with a pool. we loved everything about it. made offer. offer accepted. we move in.
  • about two weeks after moving in, wife and daughters go to CA to visit family...we're in TX.
  • i come home from work and i hear splashing and screaming....people and kids. playing in a pool. didn't think
  • anything of it because neighbors behind and to the right both have a pool i assumed it was one of them.
  • i'm standing in the kitchen reading mail and enjoying a drink and i realize the ruckus sounds like it's coming from my back. yard. i open the blinds and sure as sh, there are people in my pool.

  • i go out ask who they are and why they're in my pool "oh, yeah...Jane (former owner, not real name) said we can swim here whenever we wanted.
  • "I bought this house from Jane and that invite is no longer valid" "what the h_l??? my kids just want to swim!!"
  • "ok. take them to the community pool" "but we've been swimming here for years"
  • "ok.....not any more. leave now or i'm calling police" "WOW! THAT'S how you're going to play it? we just want to swim"
  • "build your own pool or go to the community pool. i'm calling police in...3-2..." "come on, kids....this guy is aj and doesn't want y'all to have any fun"
  • "come back again and i'll file a trespass affidavit" "ok, keep being a j "i will in the comfort of MY pool"
  • MissBirdieBoo "Good fences make good neighbors". That saying evolved for a reason lol. Glad you stood your ground.
  • mkarr514 No trespassing signs now. If anything happens to anyone you will be liable. Your neighbors are a real piece of work.
  • remberzz I had a small pool many years ago in neighborhood where about 30% of the homes had pools. My (very nice) neighbors happily let half a dozen other families come into their yard and use the pool whenever they wanted to.
  • I did not. I got a lot of hints that I, too, should be a 'good neighbor' and allow the same. I got one dr ken harangue about how selfish I was. Didn't care. My pool. My privacy. My solitude. Also my security against damage, injuries, etc.
  • Complete Entry psst, they didn't have permission from Jane either.
  • Jamory76 "My homeowners insurance doesn't cover your kids fun." It's been a year, how are things with them now?
  • Slidell|3915 They would sue you in a heartbeat if one of their kids got hurt.
