'"The cat is now your sisters cat”': Devoted cat lover researched, prepared, bought everything, but still didn't get her purrfect ending

This tail begins with two sisters who begged their parents for a pet when the family finally moved into a pet-friendly home. They got a dog, technically a "family dog," but let's be honest, he only listens to Mom. Months later, the older sister asked if she could get a cat. The parents gave a classic "maybe," so she went full cat prepper mode: researching raw diets, comparing litter brands, buying cat trees, toys, beds. You name it, she got it.

Then, fate meowed. A furmily friend had to rehome her cat, and the family took her in. The older sister was so excited. Finally, her dream cat! She gave the kitty all the things she'd been saving. But a few days later, everything, beds, toys, even the cat, was suddenly moved into the younger sister's room. Turns out, the cat now "belongs" to her.

Jealous? Totally. Catty? Not at all. She didn't take anything back, because the cat isn't the problem. It's the claws of unfairness digging deep.

  • Once your sister sees the vet bill, litter costs, and food prices, she might suddenly be open to sharing the cat. Sharing the kitty means sharing the kitty expenses, too!

    revengeofthebiscuit INFO: has your family dynamic always been this weird? It's so odd to announce you're getting a family pet then "assign" said pet to one person. A pet is naturally going to bond more with one or two people but your whole family sounds a little immature and impulsive when it comes to making decisions.

    Zealousideal-Stay... Your mom is an a h le, but I don't think you should have bought all the cat stuff when originally it was a "maybe" to owning a cat in the first place. That just sets you up for failure and is irresponsible.

  • Claiming ownership over a cat? Futile. Everyone knows cats pick their hooman. You don’t own the cat. The cat graciously allows your presence (and occasionally your lap). Let the floof decide!

    That being said, I absolutely think you should charge your mom and sister for all the items you bought for YOUR cat. your sister is being selfish and honestly needlessly bitter. The cat is living in poor conditions. being confined to a single room the whole day. Save your money, don't front any vet bills. And if you DO, register it under your name
