There is something so comforting about walking down a city street with a loved one. Maybe you're used to walking alone, so you're glad to have the company where you can get it. Maybe you see the world a little differently through the eyes of someone you care about. Maybe you just have a bad sense of direction and are happy to have someone steering the ship. But walking astride someone only works if you walk at the same pace. 

And as a faster-than-average walker, I've learned this the hard way. I've left friends in the dust, family to eat my dirt. And I don't mean to, I just can't control my internal motor unless I think about it super hard. And who is to say that it's I who needs to slow down? Maybe they need to speed up.
