We're not relationship experts, but we are experts in loving dogs so much it physically hurts. The kind of love where you want to show their little snoots and floppy ears to anyone who might even remotely care. So when you're getting to know someone new, of course you want to share your dogs. They're part of your heart. They're part of your day. Dogs are family.

Sending a dog pic isn't about demanding a reaction. It's a little, low-stakes way of saying "Hey, I thought of you". It's a moment of connection - just like texting a silly meme, or a song you're into, or a picture of your dinner (which, let's be honest, we've all done).

So yeah… we get why this felt kind of hurtful. Because if someone doesn't see how meaningful your dog is to you, it might feel like they're missing a piece of you, too.

  • At the end of the day, this is less about dogs and more about compatibility. Some people love frequent updates and cute moments. Others don’t want daily photos of anything, even if it’s the most majestic doggo on Earth.

    And that’s okay - as long as everyone’s being kind about it.

    But dogs? They don’t deserve to be caught in the crossfire of human communication breakdowns. They’re pure. They’re good. They just want snacks, belly rubs, and to be told they’re the bestest. Which, if you ask us, is the kind of energy we should all bring into our relationships anyway.
