Frustrated waiter refuses to enter his 8-cent tip on a $99.92 bill in the system after serving guests for 2 hours, hoping the uneven number on their banking will remind them of their bad attitudes: 'Don't do this at the cost of someone else's livelihood'

payment was split between two cards. No, the other couple tipped appropriately for their portion.

The charge was for $99.92, and they left me 8 cents... so the total would be $100. To begin, if you are going to not

I didn't bother to enter the .08 tip into the computer. I hope that the OCD itches them right in the brain when they check over their

bank account. I hope that they recheck their bank account for days afterwards, just to see if the number changes.

I get it, I round up on change as well. Integers just feel so nice, especially at intervals such as 100. Don't do this at the cost of someone else's livelihood. I won't deign to accept it.

Tremenda-Carucha Eight cents? That's less than the cost of a paperclip... I mean, did they think this was some kind of math puzzle or just plain r de? How do you even begin to explain that?
  • 13
wombat696d I have explicitly not tipped at all on a charge card, but that's why I carry cash - pretty much *just* to tip - as I know some businesses do hinky things with tips and I'd rather the company had basically no record of me tipping the staff. Plus I worked in a bar for over a decade and that cash was just so nice at the end of the night...

onmylastnerveboi Nah be ped your boss refuses to legally pay you instead of expecting customers to support your lives.

wintermute_13 They're not gonna notice or care. They didn't do that out of "extreme OCD," they did it to be cute. I'm sorry this happened to you, but they won't care.

Tiny Difference_5497 I'm confused how this is revenge? They won't bother to check their bank statement and if they do they won't think twice about it. Probs just rounded up wrong or meant to pay 120, maybe they were d nk after 2 hours and the tip slipped their mind.

Secure_Highway8316 The only time I have not tipped was when the service was not just bad, but the server was ride or deliberately ignoring us. I think I've only done this 2 or 3 times in my 37 years as an adult.

crankyandhangry Your opening line made me sad. Imagine showing up to an office job, where your boss just gets to decide on any given hour if he's going to pay you, and if so, how much. And maybe he'll base it on a % of the numbers on the stacks of paper you've been filing. That's what working for tips is.

Foreign_Primary4337 You're not entitled to a tip. Your boss should pay you a livable wage. Tipping is out of control.
  • 20
Jaded Macoroni867 It's so easy to tip $20.08 and then there's still a nice round number. Not as round of course, but still round

vandervee Wow the number of people berating you for working in an industry that requires customer tips as part of your compensation is mind boggling. Sorry you got so many AH responses. I liked your petty revenge story.
