18 Wholesome Moments from History

History is a subject that we have come to view with a tinge of sadness. Not only for the melancholic view of the past, but for the fact that it is usually tied up in wars, political battles, and pretty much every other bad thing that has ever happened in the world. But the truth is that the past was not so doom and gloom, as we have come to learn about it in our time. People still laughed, sang, played and danced. Heck, there is a good chance they did even more of that back then, than we do now.

Life was freer, wilder and full of curiosity. And we do not know why it is that historians have leant on the side of drama and destruction, but we wanted to change that perspective, if only a bit, with this collection of wholesome moments from history. Such that we might remember that we have always been human, will always be human, and that the heinous acts of the past are not what exclusively make up our history.

Simple moments, that is what we need more of in this life. Simple moments that remind us of our place in the world, that everything is ok, and that there is a lot of wonder to be discovered if we are willing to look. This young woman certainly seems to be aware of that wonderful fact.

The innocence of children on the background of innocence to be lost at war. A moment that might have held bitter goodbyes for this family, or simply connoted the beginning of rapidly changing times. It is otherworldly to be able to see the moments before the madness.
