Entitled Colorado woman's public embarrassment turns into serious life lesson when her fake service dog jumps into produce section at Durango Walmart and refuses to come out

We get the temptation to bring your doggo with you everywhere. Really, we do. We wish we could just lie about our dog being a service dog and travel with them next to us on the plane, or take them to enjoy a meal outside at our favorite restaurant. We love our dog more than life itself, but we can't do it for two reasons: 1) She is a scaredy-cat and no one would believe she is a service dog, and 2) it's not fair to the people who really need service dogs. The video below is a pawfect example why.

A woman in Durango, Colorado, was filmed recently after her "service dog" jumped into the produce section at Walmart and refused to get out. She got rightfully embarrassed at the whole scene, especially when it came out that she didn't have the dog on a leash in the first place. We hope she learned her lesson that just because your dog is friendly, doesn't mean they are anywhere nearly as trained as a service dog is.

There are so few rules about service dogs and their training that when you do something like this, you actively work towards ruining the lives of people who legitimately need to bring their service dogs with them. When your "service dog" acts out in public, you make everyone more distrustful of service dogs. Don't be the bad apple that ruins the bunch - leave your dogs at home, where they belong, when you're out running errands. They'll be just as happy to see you when we get home, we pawmise.

  • We didn't think it was legal to go anywhere with your dog without a leash, except for specific dog areas like dog parks and beaches. Surely no service dog is allowed to wander around without a leash. That sounds like rule #1 when it comes to service puppers!

  • Border collies are hyper-intelligent breeds. They are also hyper. They need mental and physical stimulation daily, and they are not for every dog owner. They're perfect if you're an avid runner or like to teach your dog lots of complicated tricks. If you're not both or at least one of those things, then border collies are not for you.

    People NEVER think of the wellbeing of the dog in these situations. Can you imagine how terrified that dog had to be to do that? Jist a horrible thing to do to that dog.

    Third, I went shopping at Albertsons and the co-op yesterday (Sunday) and saw a dog inside at each location. Neither were service animals. I didn't think that this was legal. Sigh...poor dogs and owners...
