'I’ve been saving them for years': Traveler refuses to give their hard-earned frequent flyer miles to an entitled friend demanding a romantic vacation with their boyfriend

After finding out that their friend, a traveling businessperson, had racked up a significant amount of frequent flyer miles on their work trips, this entitled "friend" felt like demanding they hand them over. Gifting a person your frequent flyer miles is like giving them access to your bank account information. Those miles aren't just sitting there uselessly; you're SAVING them, which is a concept that this entitled friend couldn't grasp. 

Apparently, a romantic vacation with her boyfriend was far more important than protecting a long-standing friendship. Instead, she chose to burn a bridge with her buddy, all because they wouldn't fork over thousands of dollars' worth of fly miles.

  • Flyer miles are like cash. You can use them to buy more flights, book hotels, and have a semi-paid-for vacation. Why would you ever give that away? No offense to this entitled friend, but their mooching apparently knows no bounds, and their bud made the right call, cutting them off and going no-contact.

  • HumbleCoyoteGames My husband used to have a job where he travelled a lot and he was given a Hilton Honors credit card as his work card. He ended up building up a lot of points and we went to a Hilton all inclusive resort in Mexico for basically free (this was in 2014)

  • When his friend found out, he asked to use the points for his own vacation. My husband explained that we used all of them and it would take awhile to build that much up again. Thankfully his friend was understanding, even apologized for asking, and never brought it up again... I can't imagine someone getting mad about it. So weird to me.
