‘Our social media accounts are our private accounts’: Obsessive coworker demands all colleagues accept her Facebook friend requests, then cyberstalks them to the point of being blocked

I read one the other about this and reminded me of a coworker. This was about 12ish years ago and honestly still ongoing. I work
  • for a small company, going on 22 years, and worked my way up the small ladder we have. Been on the Admin side for about 20 of these years. Most of us have
  • been with this company for quite a long time so are friendly but this one coworker from the moment she got hired kinda rubbed me the wrong way. Some
  • of the things she would say are things you don't share at the job and would stick her nose she had no business being in. We
  • nicknamed her Nosy Rosy and the staff called her Sir Prints A Lot, since she loved looking for mistakes on people she had a
  • grudge on to get them in trouble. She is one of those that has a miserable life so wanted others miserable. The stories I have are
  • endless on this one. One time I got a text from an unknown number that turned out to be her and I knew I never gave her my number, turns out she would go
  • into the employee page we used as contacts and would pull everyone's numbers for her mobile. I told her to lose my number and do not pull that
  • again. After that, I was friendly but I keep my distance. What really drew the line for me, she started friend requesting everyone the moment they where
  • hired on Facebook and sent me one also. I ignored it at first but she kept poking so I eventually blocked her all together because
  • my other coworkers who did give in got stalked, we think she had alerts on everyone because they would post and seconds later she
  • would respond to every single thing, it was creepy. They eventually unfriended. She noticed right away (I am talking hours and would send another
  • request) that we blocked or unfriended and went crying to the owner about it. Seriously, tears running down her face, had
  • a panic attack because we didn't want to be her friend on social media. Owner then talks to me and my team that we should be
  • her friend, had to explain that our social media accounts are our private accounts that have nothing to do with the job and we
  • don't have to be her friend, end of conversation. Boss was you are correct. End of that. She still works there, and I still have her
  • blocked on every platform I am on. She still makes a point to mention she can't find me when others on her team are friends on there. I just don't do messy, and she thrives on it.

  • Leather-Newt-3910 I've been at my current job for 8 1/2 years and I have blocked all of my coworkers. and everyone in management on Facebook and Instagram. Don't need them knowing anymore about me than I tell them.
