‘I even wore a suit’: Ex tries one last time to get back together with his girlfriend by presenting a professional PowerPoint, makes her father cry instead, does not reunite

When you are going through a break up that is not amicable, heartbreak is inevitable. This boyfriend tried his darnedest to avoid breaking up by giving his soon-to-be-ex-girlfriend a professional style PowerPoint on why they should stay together. She broke up with him for being "emotionally immature," which he admits is "fair," but he wasn't ready to take the L. Instead, he put on a suit and tie and showed up to her house with pie charts and info graphs. However, he wasn't just presenting this to her, he was also presenting it to her father. After a professional presentation that stated he would "actually listen" if they just gave the relationship another chance, he nervously awaited her response. But it wasn't her that had a big emotional reaction, it was her father. It turns out that everything he said in his presentation was what this dad wanted from his wife, that apparently, also didn't work out. The dad cried and the daughter emotionally bonded with him. It sounds like it was all actually quite beautiful. 

 

Unfortunately, that did not convince the girlfriend/now ex, to get back together with him. But it sure made for an entertaining break up story!

  • I walk into her apartment, and she bursts the door open, takes one glance at me standing there with a laptop and laser pointer, and says, "You're serious, right?"

  • But she invites me in. Her father sits down too, like I'm trying to sell them a timeshare. Slide 1: Pie chart showing the level of happiness before and after the breakup.

  • Slide 2: Timeline of our relationship (including our food poisoning bout together). Slide 3: A meme. (Nobody laughed. Sad.) The previous slide was "Things I'll Do Better."

  • As you mature as a human being, you start to realize that it takes much more than just romantic love to keep a healthy relationship going strong. Break ups are how we learn and grow, don't make it an opportunity to hate yourself even more. Make a PowerPoint on why you should love yourself instead!
