The mom in this story doesn't care that her kids are behind. Her 4-year-old doesn't know her numbers and colors, and her 8-year-old can't read chapter books yet, but she is totally blasé about it. She says it's okay that her kids aren't meeting the benchmarks of their peers, but she doesn't seem to have a sense of urgency to help them get on track.
