Two coworkers quit after being denied $100 raises, their replacement "Reggie" steals $300,000 from the company's clients: 'They got scammed'

Far too many managers underestimate the consequences of denying well-deserved raises to their hard-working employees. What might seem like an unrealistic amount of money that isn't worth it in the short term might actually save the company money in the long term. That certainly proved to be true at this particular company. After two coworkers who tripled their clientele were both denied raises, they left high and dry. To make matters worse, the replacement, Reggie, ended up being more than incompetent. He turned out to be a complete scammer, successfully stealing over $300k from the company's clients. 

One can just imagine what those coworkers' manager was thinking after uncovering Reggie's scheme. What could have been just $2,400 spent on validating the superb efforts of the company's top employees ended up being 125 times that amount. Of course, no one could have predicted that Reggie was going to do what he did, but the two coworkers certainly felt vindicated when they learned just how much money the company was forced to shell out to pay back its clients. 

Thankfully, these coworkers were able to find better jobs elsewhere as soon as their raise requests were denied outright. Not everyone has that luxury of being able to "up and leave" the minute they're disrespected in the workplace. Still, we can try and live vicariously through these guys, as they rare experience of seeing karma rear its ugly head on their former manager.   • If the immense contributions that these coworkers achieved at their former jobs are true, then these guys probably deserved raises a long time ago. To be singlehandedly responsible for tripling a company's client base is more than just “significant" and worthy of praise. They should have been leading their respective department at that point!
