Listen, I'm a girl who understands the importance of brunch. I really do…and there are very few things that come before a Sunday catch-up with the girls. However, a parent's surgery is one of them! Unless she was having brunch with the Genie and could grant a wish for her father's recovery, we see no other reason to ask a high-demanded surgeon to 'push back' the surgery an hour or two so you can make it to brunch…Audacity and entitlement have met a new high today, and it's going to take a ship of tragic entitlement stories to beat this unique case!

We've truly dealt with the disappointment of missing a little eggs benedict moment…but there is no way people can really be this clueless about what goes into scheduling a surgery and how many pieces and people make up the puzzle. It's not as simple as asking to arrive 15 minutes early to a nail appointment: This is someone's health on the line…and not just any someone, but her poor father! Maybe they could refer an on-site therapist to have a little heart-to-heart with his daughter, and even a doctor to explain the downsides of mimosas!

    I will never understand people like that. I work insane hours, miss holidays, go without sleep... and somehow I'm the bad guy because I wouldnt reschedule surgery around brunch.

    Nessie_of_the_Loch I'm not a doctor but have many in the family. The number of moving parts that need to come together even to arrange for that kind of surgery, between all the people, the space, even the devices being prepped, is absolutely lost to most people. But insisting that it be rescheduled for their meal plan is a different level of cluelessness altogether though.

    Useless890 A former supervisor told me about having her daughter (then grown). It's a rural area, with one doctor at the time. When she went into labor, it was a Friday. The doctor gave her something to stop the labor because he was going fishing the next day.

    Dubiousgoober People can be awful. I, unfortunately, would have lost my cool. Ive gone through several surgeries working in hospitals and scheduling them is difficult. Getting 5-10 people (doctor, anesthesiologist, nurses, surgery technician, and the patient) together is hard enough without entitled family members who think you work for them. What a shameless nightmare of a daughter.
