‘We believe she lost her mate’: Wild goose randomly self-domesticates herself and joins the flock of a farmer who happily welcomes her, tragic backstory comes to light

A farmer recently woke up one morning to feed her flock of ducks and chickens, and spotted a new friend. Amongst the clucking and quacking, was a honking wild goose. She was confused, but all the birds seemed to be getting along, so she welcomed the feathery friend into her flock for as long as she wished to stay. She figured the wild goose might stay for the feeding, but then go on her way. However, she stayed, all day, and night, and the next day, and now it has been several months. She has named her Goosie and she loves to hang out with the ducks. In fact, the farmer says she does everything with the ducks and the ducks have accepted her into their family.

Tragically, she thinks that maybe Goosie lost her mate, which is extremely difficult for a goose. These animals mate for life, and when they loose their mate, they exhibit strange behavior. In fact, the tend to act like a heartbroken human trying to figure out how to continue living with they heavy weight of grief weighing on their heart. We love Goosie and this farm says she is welcome to come and go as she pleases, but she is also very happy to have her here as part of the feather family for life.
