UPDATE - Dog owner avoids eviction after finding out new tenant lied about her doggo to landlord to force her out and put a family member in her place: '[He] apologized and tore up the notice completely'

The only thing we love more than piles of pictures of cute, fluffy animals is reading a story where justice is served. A story where karma finally comes around and gives someone what they deserve. It's so satisfying to see the "bad guy" get outed, right?

We posted a story last week about a female dog owner pawssibly facing eviction because of complaints about her pawfect pupper in their pet-friendly complex. She couldn't believe that someone would complain about her gentle giant of a dog, and it turns out, she was right! She went to her neighbors and asked if anyone had complained, and their response was so wholesome that they actually worked with her to find the root of the problem. And, of course, it was the result of a sneaky new tenant who wanted her to move out so they could move a family member into her apartment instead! 

Not only did her landlord rip up the eviction notice, but this whole situation brought her closer to her neighbors, and the other dog pawrents in her complex got together to form a little friend group. This is a lesson in being nice to your neighbors, friends - you never know when you'll need their help in the future!

    Update: Landlord wanted me to get rid of my dog

    I spoke with my neighbors to ask if anyone had complained, and it turns out none of them did. A few of them were so upset about the situation that they actually helped me talk to the landlord directly.

    After a long conversation, it came out that one new tenant had lied, saying my dog was "aggressive" to try to force me out so they could move a family member into my unit. The landlord apologized and tore up the notice completely.

  • Lying is never the solution. In today's world, it's nearly impawssible not to get caught lying. There is so much more information available these days and just about everything is recorded somewhere on some camera. Our whole lives are uploaded to social media, and we don't even read the fine print. Just don't lie if you're not prepared to get caught.

    The best part? Two of my neighbors who also have pets and I decided to start a small pet owners' group in the building. Now we share tips, do little weekend walks together, and even pitched in for an air purifier for the hallway.

  • This is so true! Pets teach us compassion and to care for something other than ourselves. They also allow us to connect to others we wouldn't normally talk to simply because we both have pets (fur example - I've met some super cool friends at the dog park that I never would have talked to before). We bonded over doggos, but became actual friends.
