AITA for being upset at my friend for zero contact while I cared for her elderly dog?

I (F, 49) agreed months ago to take my friend's 12-year-old dog for 2 weeks while she went on a family holiday with her partner's family.

Some context: we used to be close, especially during a really rough period in both our lives, but I haven't really seen much of her in the past 2 years.
  • 04
Both our dogs get along well, so I said yes. From the start, communication was an issue.
  • 05
The dog handover was rushed due to her timings but was asked to message all dog rules and routines etc.
  • 06
On day one I messaged her asking for her vet and pet insurance details - no response. Later I asked about a dog walker (since I work and my own dog is already cared for) - again, no response, so I sorted it myself just 30 mins.

The dog has a history of ear problems, and sure enough, they started flaring up. Still no response from her.
  • 08
On top of that, the dog isn't toilet- trained in the same way mine is, so I was dealing with that too (he toilets on mats).
  • 09
Walks were stressful because he's not good with bigger dogs and I live by a dog park, so had to reroute, as he will bark constantly once seeing a big dog!

To make matters worse, I realised she originally gave me one return date, but just before the holiday changed it to a later one, basically giving herself an extra dog- free weekend.
  • 11
Then I found out she actually came back a day earlier than that! I messaged saying she could come get the dog - messages were delivered, but again, no response.
  • 12
So here I am, two weeks of looking after her elderly, sometimes poorly dog, with zero contact from her the entire time.
  • 13
I feel really disappointed and taken for granted. AITA for wanting to tell her how upset I am about all this? And I hate confrontation.

giving_up_fr Absolutely NTA. Your friend was disrespectful of your helpfulness and authentic concern for her dog. The lack of communication is the rotten cherry on top.

Waste Tie_6945 So you know where she lives? If so go there with the dog. Have you only texted? Try calling maybe even multiple times.

Efficient Pin852 I think that's your dog now ② Sounds like she has abandoned him.

FreshBluejay Sounds like she abandoned the dog, call animal control and report her.

HikerEC OP Update Called her out for being back early, she responded with what feels like lies at this stage, is now
