Young boy Lopez surprises everyone and brings his hungry dog 'Pequeña' to school so she can get a free meal, teacher agrees and shows the power compassion can have on students: 'And from that moment on, everything changed'

This is one of those videos that breaks your heart, and then mends it, all in just a few seconds. We can't imagine having to choose between feeding ourselves or our dog, but if it came down to it, we'd like to think that we would feed them first. This isn't our reality, but it is for a lot of people around the world. There are many out there who are struggling to feed themselves, their families, and even their pets. Lopez, the young boy in the clip below, confessed that his family was struggling to make ends meet. So much so that they couldn't afford to feed Lopez's dog, Pequeña, whom he loves more than anything.

He surprised everyone by bringing his doggo to school in hopes of getting her a free meal, instead of letting her go to survive in the wild. His teacher, without hesitation, agreed. This compassion was the beginning of a big change for Lopez. He started focusing again in class. His happiness returned. One act of kindness can ripple to become a wave of change. We hope Lopez and Pequeña are both eating better now that their video has gone viral.

It must have taken so much courage to bring his dog to school and request to feed her. When we were his age, we were afraid of our own shadow - there's no way we could have mustered up the bravery to do something like this. However, love gives you the power to do a lot of things you might be afraid of!

We need more stories like this in our feed. There's too much rage-bait, too much focus on all the negative stuff. Humanity would be much better if we saw more of the things that uplift us and inspire us to be better people, instead of the opposite.
