Back in college, my roommate had two cats, Sushi and Bernard. They were a bonded pair in every sense of the word, though not always in the way you'd hope. Sushi was a professional food thief who would swipe bites off our plates the second we turned our heads, and Bernard was capable of opening closed doors by jumping onto the handle at full force. They were a terrifying duo. And the meowing was nonstop. It was like living with two very loud, very fluffy roommates who had zero respect for quiet hours.

But no matter how much of a mess they caused, they were also unbearably cute together. They'd curl up in perfect little yin-yang naps, or flop over each other in ways that made you immediately forgive them for the latest kitchen disaster. That's the beauty of bonded pairs. They might double the mischief, but they also double the love.

I like to think of me and my best friend as a bonded pair too. We’re not breaking into cabinets (yet), but we do spend most of our waking lives together, which has basically made us a bonded pair.
