‘I ain't leavin'’: Tenant files a lawsuit against their landlord after she tries to wrongfully evict them and their service dog, then sends the documents to the landlord's neglected PO box so she fails to show up to court

You'd think a landlord would know by now that tenants will always find a way. The tenant in this next story files two lawsuits against their landlord after they try to wrongfully evict her based on having a service dog, or any other "issue" under the sun. So, the tenant decides to send important court documents and other information to their landlord's PO box. This PO box, however, is apparently heavily neglected, so the landlord never receives the mail… Oh no! Or not…

Landlords are in a position of ultimate power: They own the building you live in, and call the shots on what you're allowed to do with it. There are certain protections that landlords cannot overstep, or they risk a lawsuit that might cost them thousands to millions of dollars in cash. Tenants' rights are heavily protected because we are put in a vulnerable position as renters. If a landlord wanted us out at the drop of a hat, most protections would prevent them from doing so. That's why the tenant here is in the right, and likely didn't even need to seek petty plans to make their landlord out to be negligent… because the landlord clearly already does that easily enough themselves.

  • The hearing was ultimately adjourned because I'm asking quite a bit of money, and a ton of things to be repaired around the house.
