Introverts don't always want to attend social events, but it's nice to get an invite every now and then. Antisocial folks struggle between their desire for human connection and their need for isolation. Funnily enough, the spectrum of introversion is far simpler than you'd imagine. Some introverts need to say 'maybe' to events, while others need to flee.
Regardless of what kind of antisocialite you become, the truth remains the same: We're all human. And despite our best efforts to be entirely self-sufficient, humans were designed to be with other humans; it's in our nature. So the next time you're hemming and hawing about attending some random baby shower or school play, remember this… Perhaps your attendance would mean more to someone else than your absence. You can just recharge your social battery some other time and save your good excuses for the next event.
Because inside each introvert is a secret antisocialite who must be social in order to remind themselves why they despise the public.
