‘Pretty sure the cat was the real hiring manager': Guy ends up having to wrangle a cat loose in the office during his job interview, gets the cat and gets hired

A guy does everything he can to prepare for a job interview. He practices in the mirror the night before, trying to anticipate every possible question they could ask him. He wore his best suit and felt well prepared. However, there was no way he could have predicted what situation he was actually going to be put in during the interview. But hey, it's what got him the job! While he was there, the entire office started going into a panic. It turns out that somebody's cat had snuck their way into the office and was now perched on a cabinet hissing at everyone. The hiring manager looked at the interviewee and asked if he knew what to do. So, the guy did what he could and eventually rescued the cat. The office found the owner and alls well that ends well. During the interview they thanked him and even agreed they didn't need to ask him how he was in stressful situations, because he had just proven himself that he can handle them well! Maybe it was because of the cat, maybe not, but the did land the job!

  • The staff were panicking, chairs were moving, and I'm just standing there, the candidate, holding my resume folder like a shield. Next thing I know, one of the managers looks at me and goes, Uh can you help?

  • Mind you, I've never been trained in corporate cat wrangling. But I figured, hey, teamwork is a skill, right? So I slowly approached, offered my hand like some kind of discount Dr. Dolittle, and somehow managed to scoop the cat into my arms without getting shredded.

  • The office cheered. The cat just looked at me like, Yeah, human, you passed my test. The interview started right after that.

  • They didn't even ask about my weaknesses ,they just laughed and said, Well, we already know you can handle chaos. And yes I got the job. Pretty sure the cat was the real hiring manager.

  • It just goes to show you that you can't actually prepare for everything, because the universe might throw something to left field your way, you're just going to have to know how to go with the flow. Heck, it might just land you a chance to cuddle a cat AND land your dream job. 

  • Wiltonator Did everyone start to clap? DetectiveHairy6315 OP There really was some clapping and cheering when the cat was safe. It broke the tension completely before the interview even started.

  • kam49ers4ever So, I have to know, did they find the owner or did you take the cat home to repay his kindness? DetectiveHairy6315 OP They tracked down the owner later in the day. I didn't take the cat home, but I like to think I earned its approval long enough to get the job.
