Any real Lord of the Rings fan has tried to sing the main theme from RoTK in the shower (you know the one). With the acoustics just right and your falsetto voice warmed up from the steam, we all feel as if for a moment we're charging into battle at the Black Gate for Frodo, with the last shred of the army of Men at our backs and the screaming Nazgul above. Hark, the song swells in our souls and we're fighting for far more than just a solo song in the shower, we're fighting for the sake of good versus evil.
Alas, as we know and cherish, the good vanquishes the bad, but not before a shriveled, angry Gollum bites the finger from our protagonist's hand and Samwise Gamgee carries our beloved Frodo. The Mouth of Sauron screams in retaliation and the orcs tremble with confusion as the Ring plunges into the lava of Mount Doom. As the eye of Sauron skitters around in panic, looking for Its assailant, our shower song echos in our hearts and minds, as epic as it was the first time we saw the movie.
Spoiler alert: the good guys win.
