'I feel I'll resent him': Husband refuses to take money or home from parent's inheritance so prove he can earn it 'by himself,' wife gets involved and demands he let his parent's financially help them
Married life is never a straight and narrow path. It's filled with unexpected and serendipitous highs and lows that never end. The story here revolves around a married couple and their finances. Pink Floyd spoke about money the best, but it really does come between people, even married couples. The protagonist is a woman who needs advice on her husband. Her husband's family is well off, and his parents own a couple homes, as well as having a lot of savings. Though they're still alive, she knows that eventually they'll need to plan their future and take into account the inevitable inheritance. Her husband, however, disagrees that they would need anything. He's old fashioned, meaning he wants to earn everything alone.
This old-fashioned stance on earnings or materialism really are out of date. If your parents have a home or money to give you, it's only behooving to take it. There's no point in trying to be the man in this economy. Read the full story below for all the details.
