My neighbor mows only half my lawn. Every single week.

This guy next door has a perfect lawn obsession. Like he trims his grass with scissors obsessed.
  • 03
At first I thought he was just being nice because I came home and half my yard was freshly mowed.
  • 04
Exactly half. The line is razor sharp, like a haircut with a ruler. Week after week he does it.
  • 05
Always stops at the invisible border he decided on, which is about 3 feet into my yard.
  • 06
So now my lawn looks like it has a before-and-after photo. One side golf course, other side scraggly jungle.

I asked him why he keeps doing it and he said "because I can't stand uneven lines when I look out my window." I told him then mow the whole yard.
  • 09
He said "that's your job." So basically I'm trapped. If I mow my side it messes up his lines and he complains.

If I leave it, it looks insane and he still complains. If I try to mow the part he already did, he literally comes outside and yells at me not to "ruin the pattern." My yard has turned into his weird lawn art project and I'm losing my mind.

    MarionberryPlus8474 You need a fence.

Next-Wishbone 1404 "Get the h I off my property!" is the correct response to this nonsense. Or "All or nothing, buddy!"

Pristine-Pirate-2386 Tell him to stop touching yours then. It's not a favor if it's inconvenient and worse for you. Tell him you will take care of your own lawn and he needs to stop. After that it's technically trespassing although I wouldn't escalate to the police over this alone. Then mow all of your grass however you would normally. If he complains remind him that you will take care of yours and he can take care of his. If he keeps going just shut the door.

mugwhyrt I'd tell him to stay off your property. I don't understand why it's so important that his "perfect lawn" extend into yours. You could also tear out your lawn and replace it with rocks and native flora. Nothing for him to mow then.

chaoss402 Just mow your lawn. S ✓ him if he complains about it. It's your yard, not his. And if it bothers you that he mows your lawn sometimes put up some sort of decorative fence, just be sure that you know for sure where the property line is, and that you aren't going to run afoul of any local or HOA restrictions.

Infamous_Cobbler5284 Put up an uneven fence.

Matilda-17 Just ignore whatever he does and mow your own lawn as though he doesn't exist. If he yells at you about it, calmly tell him "I am mowing my lawn. I suggest you mind your own business and your own lawn." If it's feasible, consider a fence along the property line.

NarwhalPrudent6323 "If you continue to trespass on my property I will be forced to involve the police. Your desire for straight lines does not give you the right to access my yard and modify it." Then post a no trespassing sign where it's clearly visible to him. Call the cops if he does it again. Edit: a metal stake driven into the ground that sticks up a couple of inches will likely destroy his lawnmower, just fyi. Maybe it was a tent pole you forgot? Who knows, maybe he shouldn't be in your ya

drtij_dzienz Set your mower height to a very low setting, when you mow your lawn mow 3' into his lawn. Scalp setting will enrage a lawn nutter. Tell him you don't like uneven lines and you'll stop mowing into his lawn when he stops mowing into yours.

Animalhitman50 Nighbor had a similar situation with an older guy. She chose to trespass him. He didn't take it seriously and got arrested.
