Not everything can go your way in marriage, and that's probably for the best. Our partners put us in check when we get tunnel vision, and they let us know when what we're demanding is impractical, and, well, selfish.

This isn't to say that sometimes, our partners don't act in their best interest in order to get the outcome they want in any given situation, but being self-aware is key to a healthy, balanced partnership.

For example, the wife in this next story asks her husband if they can turn their joint office room into her craft room. Both the husband and the wife are remote employees, so having a designated workspace is important to their output and general well-being. The wife's implication that her husband can be banished to the bedroom for work and she can park on their living room couch is inherently selfish. Aside from selfish, it's also impractical. Everyone is inconvenienced because she wants a designated art space. Unfortunately, and like many commenters have also pointed out, work takes priority over hobbies in this case.

  • GothicOtaku25 OP as someone who makes stuff out of resin as a hobby, you HAVE to have a room with proper ventilation, and either put down mats or something to cover the floor so resin doesn't get on anything, not to mention not being able to get it on your skin and she should be wearing a mask while dealing with resin if she doesn't do this already. Maybe she can use the garage? It might not be ideal depending on the heat where you live but the space might be better? Also NTA. It's a selfish req
