'Stop picking on my sister or I'll go to the coach': 17-year-old confronts fellow football teammate for picking on his freshman sister, forcing his teammate to apologize

When navigating the difficulties of high school, it helps to have an older sibling in your corner.

This freshman just started the school year and was already getting picked on by a senior. First, the senior cut her in line at the cafeteria and was unnecessarily unkind when she confronted him about it. Unfortunately, their so-called "feud" didn't stop there. The freshman thought this was just one unpleasant encounter, until she ran into this dude again at the library, where he proceeded to knock all the books out of her hand.

Thankfully, when the freshman came home to complain about this guy over family dinner, her brother figured out that she was talking about someone on the football team. Now, the brother was a well-respected linebacker, who had greater popularity on his side.

Yes, for once, this was a high school athlete who used his popularity for a good cause. He ended up confronting the senior in the locker room and, without any overstepping or unprofessional behavior, he managed to get this guy to back down and apologize for his action.

It's worth acknowledging that almost everyone's behavior in this story feels straight out of the early 2000s. One has to wonder if the senior watched caricatures of high school b*llies and proceeded to lean in just for the sake of fitting in. Luckily, these two kids were raised by a mother who taught them to stay above the fray and to transcend high school tropes by simply being themselves. Obviously, that's easier said than done, but kudos to the moms who try their best to spread that energy.
