Woman shares the wholesome moment she discovers her foster dog speaks Spanish: 'I wonder how long it had been since he heard a familiar voice'

Have you ever traveled somewhere that speaks a totally different language than you? Now, imagine you learned that language, but have now been relocated again to another place that speaks a totally different language. So now you are bilingual, but still lost in translation. That is exactly what Nacho, a rescued Chihuahua has been going through. His original language is dog, obviously. Then, wherever he was previously, he learned training commands in Spanish. However, whoever rescued him had no idea. So, he was thought to be untrained.

He was given to a loving foster home while he heals and prepares to find his new furever family, or should we say, familia? This family happened to also speak Spanish, so they tried that language out. They quickly realized that Nacho was responding as if he knew the commands. Earlier, when they were telling him to "come," "sit," "outside," etc. he was despondent. But in Spanish, he perked up, excited to finally understand and be understood, and was actively doing exactly what they asked of him in Spanish.

The wholesome discover was caught on video and you can see the excitement in both his foster mom and Nacho himself. She asks in Spanish if he wants to go outside, which his ears perk up and he even jumps towards the door. Or she asks in Spanish if he is hungry and wants to eat, to which he starts whining.

How many dogs are marked as “not house trained" in shelters, when really, they are, but they just speak another language. We are so happy that Nacho finally has someone to talk to again!
