Update: Customer complains about worker's glasses, boss sends employee home without pay

This employee got accused of wearing "hippie" glasses… but were the frames actually that crazy?

Customers are just strange, and if you've ever worked any kind of customer service job, you'll agree with that sentiment. A lot of your customers will be wholly pleasant people, and you might have some nice regulars. But an awful lot of people enjoy dunking on retail workers just because they need someone to bring down a peg. 

Here's the thing, though: when you work in customer service for a long time, you develop a really thick skin. You start to just tune out the grumpiest customers out there, because at the end of the transaction, they'll just disappear out the door, and you'll carry on with the next 7 hours and 55 minutes of your shift without giving them another thought. So some customers step their insult game up to the next level, and start poking at people's appearances. 

This person was truly baffled by a customer who demanded they take off their floral glasses. It just makes zero sense, because the glasses are very normal-looking, I think. The bad part about their story isn't just that the customer belittled them, but that their manager sided with said customer! That's a sign that they should leave that job as quickly as possible. If management doesn't have your back, and doesn't respect you enough to defend you from even the silliest customer demands, you definitely shouldn't keep clocking in there.

    The flowers are quite subtle, I'm not sure why anyone would have a problem with this.

    Got thru the service without any incident but then my boss asked me to take them off to avoid another incident, I didn't see the point and let him know that I plan on working with them anyway, nothing is stated.

    Edit 2: They are prescription, after sleeping on it I think I'll just try and eat sh today to try and keep my job, I have another pair of glasses I usually wear that I'll bring instead

    Here's what happened the next day:

    I showed up for my shift around noon, was informed by coworker to go the office to talk with the boss about yesterday, we sat down and aired out the whole incident, what I did wrong, what he did

    wrong, how to handle it better in the future etc... Told me I was not being fired or reprimanded in any way and that I would be credited 4 hrs vacation for the time I missed yesterday.

    incentive at this point, good chance I'll be moving in the near future to be closer to my gf but I'll stick it out at this place for the time being as it's my primary source of income.

    Side note: the boss' dad happens to know the customer in question and stated that he's a "real piece of work" and I should be given the benefit of the doubt with what transpired.
