When you first start dating someone, everything feels like a lovely dream. You can't get enough of each other — every text gives you butterflies, dates feel like rom-com movie montages, and their weird little habits seem adorable. Fast forward a few years and add in a shared lease and suddenly those habits aren't as cute as they used to be.
My fiancé and I hit that point around year two. We still love each other to bits, but sometimes it feels like we live in a sitcom. The amount of mugs that I leave out after using them and the rate at which I chastise him for leaving the toilet seat up seem like an ongoing bit. Yet somehow, when we're apart for even a few days, I find myself missing his dumb jokes and pijamas on the floor every morning. It's infuriating, but also kind of sweet.
