18-year-old cancer survivor adopts a dog who she takes to visit her dad's grave, though they never met, her dog refuses to leave his headstone: ‘He’s a spirit dog!'

You ready to have your heart warmed? Meet Normy! This is a sweet sweet pup, now being called a "spirit dog." Why? Because of what he did when his owner took him to the graveyard. His owner, an 18-year-old got diagnosed with Thyroid cancer a year ago. She has since survived it and come out stronger, but the mental scar is there along with the physical one. Though she celebrate her survival, she still mourns, because her father passed several years ago, when she was still just a pre-teen. She writes on her TikTok that he was her best friend.

Her dog, Normy, never met her father. However, she took him with her one day to visit her father's tombstone and something amazing happened that brought this young girl to tears. As she was getting up to leave, her dog refused. He sat right in front of the tombstone, with his ears pinned down as if he was being pet. He looked up to her with pleading eyes, as if he were saying that they needed to stay longer. Of course she listened to Normy, even with tears in her eyes.

Meet Normy: The Spirit Dog!

Now, the internet is calling Normy a “spirit dog” and making all kinds of theories on why he did that! Perhaps he is her soul dog, thus he is also tied to her father. Maybe her father's spirit was happy for the visit and was with them, petty Normy. Maybe Normy could feel his owner's heart grow heavy when they neared the grave site, thus new he needed to stay there with her a little longer, perhaps to help her through the grieving process.

One commenter even related it to the “burnt toast theory," which is saying that the dog insisted she stay just a few more minutes, because if they left that second, something bad was going to occur. Perhaps it was Normy who got a message from his owner's father from beyond telling him to keep his daughter there just a few more minutes to avoid a harmful situation.

Whatever actually happened, whether it was spiritual or just Normy needed a quick sit break, it struck the heart chords of many. Especially his owner, who now feels closer to him more than ever. Though she says she still lives in fear of her cancer returning, she feels safe knowing that her dog Normy is there by her side and comforting her like her father would have.
