Factory employee ruins machines on purpose, loses company $30k and costs boss his job: '5 hours... to clean, fix, and replace damaged sensors'

This boss had no idea what he was asking for when he instructed an employee to run a sticky substance through sensitive machinery, and it quickly led to his downfall. 

No one likes a know-it-all, but at some jobs, it's kind of important to insist on being right, even if you know your boss is totally wrong. You could prevent major mistakes from happening just by clearing your throat and speaking up at the right moment. Of course, the cost of doing so is hurting your manager's ego. 

That's exactly what happened to this person, who has the really interesting job of testing the stickiness of different substances in a factory setting. They basically pick 2 ingredients, mix them together, and write a report on the stickiness of these things. Science! Most of the time, the substance works well enough in these parameters, but not all the time. And the one time they really insisted to their boss, "Hey, this substance is way too sticky and it's going to break the machines," their boss didn't have a care in the world about it. 

It's times like that that you have to let the boss have it their way! In this case, it seems like a blessing in disguise — the boss's incompetence was on full display. It's a great reminder to cover yourself — always have that paper trail, people! — and to stand up for yourself in the workplace whenever possible.
