Halloween, neighborhood decorations, entitled, family, trick or treat
  • We got a new neighbor like two months ago and she's already starting drama. Everyone on our street goes all out for Halloween with lights, skeletons, fog machines, candy, the whole thing.
  • It's like a fun tradition every year. Last week she came to my door with a clipboard asking me to sign a petition to ban outdoor Halloween decorations.

  • I thought she was joking but nah she was dead serious. She said the decorations were evil and bad for kids or whatever.

  • I told her my daughter's dressing up as a witch this year and she's been hyped for weeks.

  • The lady said I was encouraging dark behavior. I just said it's literally Halloween and closed the door.

  • Next morning there's a note taped to my mailbox saying some of us are trying to keep this neighborhood
    via Dainty_Rainbow5
  • Pretty sure it was her. So I added more decorations. Got a 12ft skeleton, fake tombstones, and some lights.

  • My neighbors loved it and even helped set it up.

  • mariehotwife84 Why do people move into a fun neighborhood and try to ruin it smh.

  • OP Dainty_Rainbow5 I know right lol like e were just trying to have fun and she comes in acting like Halloween is a crime.

  • No-Inflation-2147 My house is known in our area. We will chase you down the street and do our best to scare people. I would make it so extra that she wants to move. Try "dead" bodies hanging in trees. I have 4 that I put in a line that the kids have to walk through to get to the candy. Trash and black trash bags duct taped like bodies. Good luck and happy haunting!

  • OP Dainty_Rainbow5 Haha I love the idea of her moving. We try to be extra but not mean, just enough to make the kids freak out (in a good way).

  • StarlitSerenee Exactly! It's so frustrating when people can't just let a neighborhood be lively and enjoyable.
    via StarlitSerenee
  • OP Dainty_Rainbow5 If she wants, she can buy the whole neighborhood and have it all to herself.

  • loveychipss I hate when these extremely religious/mentally unwell people try and force their views on other people. Like girl you can hate the holiday and think it's demonic all you want but your church mass is a ritual too. Good on you for doubling down. You can't let these entitled meanies win!

  • OP Dainty_Rainbow5 Thanks, sometimes you just gotta stand your ground or they think they can run the block.

  • fiestafan73 "Halloween is against my religious beliefs, so YOU can't celebrate it." Take several damn seats, Mrs. White. Worry about Carrie's dirty pillows, not me.

  • CelebrationShort1857 Cuz they are fundamentalist. Even though the word has fun in it, fun is not allowed. They like to shove their ideals down everyone else throat.
    via CelebrationShort1857
  • Fancy_County4242 Wanna really mess with her? Have everyone quietly agree to not put up outdoor Christmas lights this year. Her head will explode by Dec. 15, at the latest.
    via Fancy_County4242
  • SpinesandSparkles Lol, these are the things that actually make Halloween so fun, without these things in place, there's no Halloween
    via SpinesandSparkles
  • memunkey These 'fundamentalists' think that Halloween was some dark pagan rite that dates back centuries. The Halloween we know in America was started to stop young people from causing mischief and vandalism. These people seriously need to stop listening to idiots online and actually learn something.

  • 1Lc3 Extremely common in the south US where I live. Halloween is almost dead here because fake Christian get a political seat then use it to find ways to ban Halloween. They can't outright ban the holiday but they can impose ridiculous curfews, code violations for decorations and bullshit PSAs about sabotaged candy. This year there is literally only one house decorated. Most don't bother because you'll get more missionaries at your door now instead of trick or theaters. One of the best holidays
