The problem with having superstitions is that there is rarely any concrete evidence to prove them.

While people are within their rights to believe things that others don't, it has to be expected that they may face some opposition to this, and that there might be times when their faith in these concepts will be tested. Also, even the most ardently superstitious individuals have to admit that all the ephemera that they are observant of has a tendency to attract the worst kinds of snake oil salesmen.

As a loved one, dealing with somebody who is insistent on making you a part of this world that is so important to them can be frustrating, not least when it appears to be totally illegitimate. Often, the easiest thing to do is keep your mouth shut when you don't agree, but occasionally, circumstances will arise where taking this path is going to be impossible.

  • RPG_Rob I'm pretty sure this astrologer has built up a relationship with your mum, and your mum trusts her, believing her bullshit and handing over top dollar for the privelege. The fact that your magic ring is very likely to be cheap alloy and glass means your mum has to consider the reality that she has been scammed, she's not going to accept that challenge to her beliefs.
