'I didn’t even want a cat': Person who did not want cats gets chosen by not one, not two, but five whole cats via the cat distribution system, and they have never been happier

You know what is unfair? The fact that we are here, have been here, waiting to be chosen by the cat distribution system again for so many years, and it has not happened to us. We have been waiting and praying and hoping, but no. All the cats seem to be going to the people who don't want cats. And that's just… the most cat thing that the cat distribution system could ever do. So, we suppose that we cannot be mad about it. 

And still, it seems to be true. Cats choose people who hate cats all the time, and they choose people who don't want cats like- literally all the time. This person who "didn't even want a cat" got chosen by the system not once, not twice, not even three times, but five. Five whole times, this person got chosen by cats, and yes, we are so very jealous of them, and also so very happy that there are five kitties out there who are living in such a good and loving home.

    RiskReasonable OP Hahaha okay. I would LOVE TO TELL YOU. About 10 years ago, I was extremely hesitant to add pets to our family because we had two toddlers and life was just crazy even though I'd always grown up as a cat lover. I was hesitant to take on another cat, but then came Lily.

    Lily: not pictured above, but posted in comments, was a four year-old ragdoll who was needing a home because her mom and dad were relocating to Mexico and their house plan was designed to have a lot of indoor outdoor spaces and because of the region that they were living in, they were concerned about their beautiful ragdoll getting injured by dogs in the area.     She's very in tune with her people and very comforting. She's also my nemesis. She always pukes where I step.     After toad joined our family, I ended up adopting a Siberian husky when he was eight weeks old who is my other son (lol). And shortly after that, adopting another Siberian husky, who was a two-year-old rescue and they are the best of friends now. They are almost identical and it was pure fate.

    You would think that we would be very happy with four children, two cats, and two dogs, however I went to adopt a third cat at the Humane Society, for my eldest daughter who was turning 14 (2 years ago)—and that's when I found Norman. He's the fluffy void. But it turned out that Norman had a sister, and I couldn't ethically leave the sister alone, so I just adopted both of them and that's how I ended up with twin voids. LOL

  • It always seems to be the people who “don't want cats” who are blessed by the cat distribution system. When will it be our turn again? We have been waiting, praying, trying to be caught by one of them, but it seems like this person might have taken some of ours. Sigh. Rant over. We're glad these kitties are in such a fabulous home.

  • Two kids, two dogs and five cats, and everyone gets along. Now, that sounds like the ideal household to us. A goal. Something to work toward having in the future. Once the cat distribution system decides that we are worthy of getting chosen again.

    RiskReasonable OP She's SUCH cute loaf. She's the newest. I ended up with her on Thursday before Good Friday and everything was close the following day, and I had every intention of keeping for one night ONLY until I could get her safe to the Humane Society. But then she was kinda adorable little bean, and there was absolutely no chance to leave my house. SHE IS PERFECT.

    RiskReasonable OP Hahaha it was a total accident! This is our old girl (not pictured above) and she also matches. We also have two huskies that are black and white. I haven't "chose" any of my pets except for my boy dog! But they all coordinate.
