colintw24 It was a summer job, my boss was super cool. I gave him my two weeks, and he said he didn't care when but I should just scream "I quit" and walk out, to freak everyone out. The day before I said I was going to leave, I was having one of those days being a clumsy mother fucker. Tripped over

something, and yelled "THATS IT! I FUCKING QUIT!". Boss gets right in my face, "NO ONE QUITS MY BUSINESS! GET THE FUCK BACK TO WORK!". We keep going until the rest of the crew started freaking balls, him and I laughed our asses off, then I got my last check and went home.

errentpen Fast food place that I worked at had a serious problem with money going missing from the tills. We didn't have assigned tills, so everyone working was in every till. To figure out where the money was going, we started having to have assigned tills. At the start of our shift we had to sign for our tills, accepting full responsibility for their

till, and it was ten dollars short. They were frequently two or three dollars off, and he always insisted that I didn't need to count them. Finally got tired of the fighting just to cover my own butt, so I quit.

Beboprockss I was serving at a low end place, I had a table full of complaints to the kitchen. I send my manager out, he offers the table desert. They order 2, when I made them, the manager accused me of stealing. Apparently he had offered them one desert. It

was a table of 7, where three people complained. I didn't believe myself to be out of line, when I said this, he started shouting at me. I told him to fuck off, and left. Very rewarding.

rickster907 As a young teenager I got hired on to wash dishes in this shitty little mom-and- pop restaurant in my home. town. Didn't even make minimum wage, and the owners were assholes. I was off work Fri-Sat, and when I came in on Sunday afternoon, no one had washed dishes since I left on Thursday. I'm talking --

dishes stacked to the ceiling, sitting there for days. The owner smiled at me and said "have fun with that". "I'll have fun with that if you pay me 10 bucks an hour until I'm done with it". "Nope". "Well then, YOU have fun with that, I quit" -- and walked out on the spot. Best decision a 13 year old ever made!!

lo... I was working at a restaurant where the boss/owner didn't know a damn thing about running a business. My co- workers were also lazy bums who only did the bare minimum. For example, the busboy often went home early because he would get too drunk to work AND THE BOSS NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THIS. Worst of all I would usually

get stuck with his side work, it was always me, never any of the other employees. Also, the boss would get into long conversations with my fellow employees while I did the majority of the work. This sucked, but since i worked on tips and the tips were really good, i put up with it. One day I was going about my work, the boss was there and so was another co-

Suddenly a massive amount of people start pouring into the restaurant, i mean some kids swim team had just won a swim meet or something and was celebrating and the restaurant was filling up quickly. I'm just swamped with people, I am just up to my ears in tables, then i notice

something. My co-worker is sitting down. I go over to her table and say "what are you doing" she says "oh I'm on my meal break" I am pissed "Seriously?" I say "we just had a ton of people come in and I can't handle them all by my self" She says "Oh come on it's not that bad i mean you can't handle it?"
  • 16
I say "no I can't handle it, there are too many people" she says "yeah, why it's not like you ever do anything around here" I'm pissed more than I have ever been pissed before. I say, "I don't do any work around here? Ok fine, if i don't do any work at all then you won't mind if I just leave now then, because I FUCKING QUIT!!" and I left.

The look on the boss's and this girl's face was beautiful, they both had this "OH SHIT, we are so fucked" look on their face, i wish i had snapped a photo of it. Fucking taking a meal break. in the beginning of a rush. This is why I don't work in crappy mom and pop restaurants anymore.

gaberax Short version: My NEW manager gave me an undeserved dressing down at work. A screaming match ensued. I walked out of the "meeting" and was later forced to meet with a HR counselor weekly to learn to manage my anger. Three months later the same manager called me at an secure offsite location installing hardware and
  • 19
demanded that I return to her office immediately (not possible that day.) She exploded on the phone and said she wanted to have another "meeting" first thing when I returned to the regular office the next day. Next morning I went to the CEO's office, immediate resignation in hand and quit. After 10 years work and employee of the year award that last year. Don't regret a thing. Fuck you, Marian.

kubits My boss at my last job totally had it out for me, and I still have no idea why. I was taking night classes, as per per request so I could keep my morning - evening schedule open for work. What does she do? Schedules me to work from 6a3p every day. This causes me to lose sleep like a I tried to sleep during the day, but it
  • 21
just was not happening. One day she asked me to work at 5a to process an early shipment. I got to work to find out the shipment was cancelled, and she just didn't bother to tell me though she found out a few days prior. I typed out my notice right then and there on our work computer, handed it to the MOD, drove home, and went back to sleep. Best sleep ever.

The greatest part about this was after I left, four more people quit almost immediately and she was later fired for harassment.

[deleted] I worked with this manager that was notorious for "losing" other people's request off forms (and being a horrible lazy manager in general). My wedding was coming up so I filled out a request off form for the day before through the end of my honeymoon. I made SURE she saw it and she put it in the folder. Then I saw that I was scheduled to work
  • 25
that day, and the following days. Then I found out that to get those days off would result in "no call no shows" which would lead to me getting fired. I was already stressed out enough, so I just quit that day. It felt really good. Then I found out a week later that she got fired.

t... They gave me zero hours on the week of my mother's wedding because I "gave little to no notice about taking that weekend off." I had been telling them every week for three months prior including a written note two weeks prior.
  • 27
Edit: For clarity, they were also playing jump rope with my hours for over a month. They gave the new guy 30 hours, while the previous week they gave me 10, even after I explained to them that I needed at least 20 hours per week so I can pay my bills.

Groverfield I was a full time employee, been with the company for about 5 years... recently the company had gone through some management changes (which they attributed to the GFC, but it was well after the GFC was over & this is in australia, where we weren't really badly effected...)

previously to become a manager, you had to work your way up through the ranks, but after these changes a new overall boss was installed from outside the company by head office... this individual then started to replace the existing managers with people she knew, including my manager... my "new" installed manager knew nothing of the work we did

(unlike the previous managers, who had done my job before being promoted), was useless when it came to being any help to her team and had a bossier than necessary attitude to how we should all behave. this came to a head one day when I had just arrived at the office, with my headphones on at 7:30am, was walking to the break room to get a drink and

passed said manager in the hall. now I was unaware that anything had been said (headphones & good ones. at that), but apparently she said good morning & got rightly pissed when I didn't respond (fair enough I guess).. what happened next was the final straw for me though, I was called in to the the Boss's office and grilled about why I didn't say good

morning & what was with my poor attitude.... I refused to apologise, cause in my eyes I had done nothing at all wrong. I had always treated this clueless manager with professional respect & even helped her do her job that she wasn't capable of doing. they said if you don't apologise, maybe you should resign... | just shot straight back at
  • 33
them "done, consider this my final notice"... I'm guessing they weren't expecting me to actually quit, cause they practically begged me to not to quit (I was the most trained/skilled employee they had at the time). I held my ground and quit anyway...
  • 34
no regrets, got 2 months pay to "think about it" and some other bonus gear... still never went back. TLDR: quit due to idiot boss, they begged me not to, I did anyway

t... I did this almost 7 years ago and I'm still pissed about it. I worked at an amusement park as a team lead so besides giving people their breaks, we had time on our hands. A bunch of us were given the task of cleaning up a few stockroom areas by the end of the day. So we busted our and cleaned the areas and everything was seemingly
  • 36
fine. Then the end of the day came and we all got written up. Turns out our b manager went and inspected the areas at ~4pm and they weren't done yet so that to her meant it wasn't done at all (again, we were given until the end of the day, and the park closed at 11).Then I found out that conveniently everyone given this little task was one write up away from losing their

end-of-the-year bonus. It was well known the park was losing money and making cutbacks. The bi management team set us up into losing our bonuses to save themselves a few grand, and we didn't even do anything wrong. I left that night and did not return.

  • 38
In the end they probably got what they wanted since flat out having us quit meant not paying us anything let alone. our bonuses. But I couldn't fucking go to work for those anymore after that.

minervassong The closest I've gotten is putting my 2 weeks notice in, then getting an earful from my supervisor at 11pm that night telling me what a liar I am, I'm not who she thought I was, that I'm pathetic, I'm ab etc. I worked like... 2-3 more days, went and complained to HR, told the manager I'm not coming in anymore. He asked why and I told him

what happened, to which he said wasn't a big deal and that I was overreacting. I stopped going after that. Considering the supervisor was my best friend's mom, it pretty much ruined our friendship.

Jovialation I worked a 12 hour 3rd shift after having worked a 2nd shift before it (at the time | worked 2 days 1st, 2 days 2nd, 2 days 3rd every week at this job) and I hadnt slept properly in ...months. I got a call at 10am asking me to come in and cover another 12 hour shift. By a manager

[deleted] Tl;dr Yes I did. Over sliced jalapeños. It was a restaurant where you order at the counter, sit wherever you like, and if its in my section any additional items and drink refills are my responsibility. They ordered chips, salsa and the jalapeños when I ran their food to the table. I took the chips and salsa immediately
  • 45
and granted, we were incredibly busy and I checked on the jalapeños over and over again and even asked the kitchen to just GIVE me a jalapeño and I would cut it up myself.
  • 46
They ignored me and my table finished their food without their jalapeños. The woman at the table started in on me about how they weren't paying for them (no shit lady) and her husband seemed apologetic but whatever. I lost a sale (no matter how small that me off) and I'm not one to blame the kitchen even when they make me look

bad. I asked the chef if we could prep chopped jalapeños in advance and he said if I didn't like the way he ran his kitchen I could leave... So I did. It was petty but I was already over that job and had another so. God what a dumb story.
