  • AITA: Mom kicked me out at age 22 with no place to move into and got mad at me that I didn't take simple pictures?

Hello. 1, 22 female, just got kicked out of my mom's, 58 female, house after being told I had less than a month to clear out the home and find somewhere else to live. For context, I have lived in this house for nearly 16 years. 3 of those years were after my mom moved out to live with her boyfriend, 62
  • male, several states away. I had my fair share of roommates and even went through a divorce during those 3 years. My mom told me on September 30th, 2025 that I had till the end of October to clear out the entire home and find a new place to live. I work two full time jobs so it was practically
  • impossible for me to do everything on my own. I had the help of my wonderful boyfriend to guide me and help me through the whole process. It was exhausting and I'm still very sore from all the heavy lifting. But I managed to clear out the house and find myself a place. to live with my 6 cats. Well, as of yesterday, October 29th 2025, I
  • signed the title of the house to the new owner and received the money in cash. My mom had asked me to take pictures of the front and back of the signed title but I had forgotten in the moment since my boyfriend was already taking a video of the whole process. The signing, the counting of money, and the handshake after closing
  • the sale. My mom texted me this morning asking if I had gotten the pictures and I told her I had forgotten but that was cause I didn't realize the video wasn't good enough for her to see that everything was signed. Now she's not talking to me and I think she's mad over not getting two pictures but she got several videos of everything else. So, AITA?
  • Edit for common questions: Yes, I was paying all the bills at the house. My mom gave me power of attorney to sell the house since she lives out of state now. I foster cats which is why I have 6. And it's a title not a deed because it's a mobile home

Baskerville-1970 · 13m ago NTA. You handled a massive move, worked two jobs, managed the sale, and even got video proof of the whole thing. Forgetting to take a couple of extra photos doesn't make you an asshole it makes you human and exhausted. Your mom should be grateful you took care of everything, not mad about missing pictures.
  • BuckeyeGentleman • 28m ago Just hang onto that cash she'll be calling soon enough
  • WeAreAllMycelium • 38m ago She wanted pictures so badly she should have been there to take them
  • mtn-cat. 24m ago NTA. You really should've just moved out and let her handle it. She kicked you out, why are you going through the trouble and work of selling her house for her? She sounds toxic, it may be best for you to go no-contact with her.
  • MilkDull8603 · 46m ago Let her be mad. She didn't come do this herself, she just left it to you. And you got it done, if she wanted to see it all done she should have shown up. Let her be mad and let it roll off you like water off a duck's back. You have done more than your fair share. Good job I'm proud of you.
  • mamadovah1102 7m ago How'd you get kicked out if you have "power of attorney" to sell it?
  • JDDJS 29m ago . You got married and divorced between the ages of 19 and 22?
  • Chilly_Thyme_8207 OP 12m ago • I got married at 18 and divorced when I turned 21. We were together through high school and he didn't mind my mom's car addiction. That's not why he left anyway. It's cause he cheated
  • Vi... 19m ago Edited 15m ago . Honestly I don't even care about the post, girl. Your life sounds like A MESS holy god. 1. Your mom didn't kick you out. She sold the home. 2. A mobile home. Six cats. Roommates. Are you fr? 3. A divorce at 22. 4. Fostering six cats in a mobile home. Who approved that.
  • NAH I guess. Your mom did nothing wrong. You on the other hand... Idk man not exactly sane choices.
  • . NotPennysBoat_42 4m ago YTA. You're 22 not 16. You have 6 cats in a mobile home? I don't care that they are fosters, that's not cool at all. You work 2 jobs and still can't find your own place to live without help?
  • Your mom let you live there rent free and you still couldn't save up enough to get your own place? She asked for a simple set of photos and you couldn't be arsed to do even that for her? Your life is a mess. You are only creating problems for yourself.
  • espressothenwine 48m ago NTA, your Mom should have been at the closing if she was so worried about the paperwork. Also, can't she just contact the closing company and get copies herself? I don't even understand why this isn't easily fixable.
  • JGalKnit 23m ago NTA. You had very little time to make things work, she is lucky you were able to get out!!
  • Glum_Airline4017 • 37m ago Counting of the money? Did the buyers just give you a big stack of bills? Was it your house or your mom's? Post said it's her house so she would have to be the one to sign the title. Maybe I'm confused but none of this makes sense to me.
  • Andre-Louis_Mor... 39m ago NTA If she wanted it done in a specific way she should have done it herself. Tell her to take her own pictures next time, and to lose your phone number.
  • Rayskat .53m ago NTA. You cleared out 16 years of your life in under a month while working two jobs, found housing for yourself and 6 cats, AND handled the entire sale. She's got video proof of everything. Being mad about two photos is ridiculous given what you just pulled off.
  • Sad_Pen_7412 • 54m ago . NTA. You were kicked out with almost no time, juggling two jobs, moving yourself and six cats, and still got everything done. Forgetting a couple of photos in the chaos is completely understandable. The video documented everything, so the request was unnecessary and minor compared to what you handled. Your mom's reaction is overblown.
