Company says basic office supplies are for managers only, new hire brings his own and forces a policy change overnight: 'Facial tissues are not for non-managers'

When a newly hired network administrator asked for basic office supplies like tissues, a coat hanger, some pens, and a whiteboard, he didn't expect to be told they were for managers only. At his brand-new state-owned company, the hierarchy extended all the way down to stationery. Non-managers, apparently, didn't need tissues or somewhere to hang a jacket.

So he did what any resourceful employee would do, and he brought his own. A sleek tissue box, a small coat hanger, colorful pens, a whiteboard, even a gaming headset. Within a day, his desk looked better than any manager's. And everyone noticed.

Visitors stopped to admire the setup, wondering how he'd managed to get special treatment. His answer was simple. "The company's rules are written by beggars. I brought my own."
