Employee quits after coworker gives her an 'aggressive look' during birthday celebrations: 'The final straw after months of negative energy'

Some workplaces feel like living proof that high school never ends.

It would be nice to think that when a group of adults get together to work towards a specific and financially remunerated purpose, they would be mature about it. However, it is frequently proven that this could not be further from the truth. Those eye-roll-worthy motivational speeches that some bosses give about companies being a 'family' are right in the sense that they surround employees with people they have little choice over, and who they often find very annoying.

Cultivating an acceptable working environment is important, no matter how coworkers may feel about one another. It is so vital that they can find themselves on the wrong end of the law if they neglect. Still, not every workplace drama is that serious, and many of them just go to show how fundamentally unserious people can be, even in the place where they are meant to be the most professional.

  • Being the witness to some office drama can sometimes be upsetting, and other times, pretty entertaining. One employee felt like they were experiencing the latter instance when they watched a coworker from the accounting department quit on the spot because she felt that somebody from marketing had given her a dirty look while they were celebrating her birthday in the office.

    She claimed that this misdemeanor was the culmination of months of negative energy. When the story was shared, other people gave their own examples, and some wondered if there was more to this than had been explained.

  • lilmsjackalope16 I was working at a family-owned business in customer service & was also assistant to the sales team. One day the VP of sales came in & said "Can you print out a copy of my schedule for the next few weeks? My Mom just fired me & I gotta get out of here." I did so & he left. Found out they hadn't been following the schedule the deputy director told me to make for them by another employee because they thought it was stupid.   • StinkieBritches A few years ago we had two sisters working in the office. They were in different departments, but their work was related. Also, one of the sisters had a little brain damage from an accident in her teens and had said that it affected her personality sometimes. These two women would go so hard at each other, like screaming and crying at each other. It got so bad, one finally quit and the other one was gone about six months later.
