Woman who struggles with mental health is gifted a sweet stray therapspspst, she adopts the cat immediately: 'I didn't know that I could love a pet like this'

The Cat Distribution System isn't just a system for cats. Sure, nobody knows exactly how it works, but we definitely know the gist of it - cats need a home, CDS finds the right person to give a home to a cat in need, and… some meowgical hokus pokus happenes so the human and the cat meet each other and… bam, the cat turns from a stray on the streets to a king or a queen in a castle. That's just about sums it up.

But that's not all the CDS is doing. Not that we know of other distributions that it does, but there's absolutely another facet to their work - the humans. Yes, you read that right. The CDS might be the cat distribution system, but in some cases - it's not only a cat who needs a human buddy and a forever home. Sometimes, a person needs a cat as well, even if they didn't know it at all. Some may even think they're not even animal lovers, pet people. And this is exactly what happened to the woman who shared her story with the online feline family.

She struggles with mental health issues, and thought she wasn't fit to adopt a feline friend. But as you're all well aware, the Cat Distribution System works its meowgic in ways we might never understand, but always appreciate. And so it is - a woman who found herself helping a cat in need, who in turn helped her so much more than she had ever expected.

  • What a sweet girl! Like she knows she's going to get the treatment and nursing back to health she desperately needs. Cats can sense these things sometimes, and with this friendly feline, it's apparent. Very clear she knows she's loved and protected now.

  • Comfortable, in a soft bed, napping in a patch of sun. Nothing says “house princess” more than that. A stray cat no more, now she'll rule (gently) a whole house and her humans' hearts.

    I sat down and she didn't hesitate to let me pet her. due to the condition of her fur matting and her eyes I knew she hadn't had a home in a long time if ever, but was very socialized.

    took her less than a week to acclimate to being home. her name is Misty! shes still figuring out toys, but she loves scratch boards.

    so far shes perfect besides her having severe periodontal disease (which will be taken care of under anesthesia this week along with the matts we can't get to with scissors).

    they estimate shes about 7, but unsure because the only place shes sensitive about is her mouth so vets couldn't get a good look.

    casur She's beautiful. A kitten my friend rescued was thought to have FeLV because they detected the virus in her, and I ended up taking her in because she thought her other cats were at risk. After some vet visits and a spaying, she was cleared of FeLV much to my own relief, and we've been together since. I know it's not the same thing, but I hope your girl turns out fine like mine did.

    OP rigatonipast she tested negative for everything at the vet! but not sure if they tested her for it or not (from what I've researched online I think its pretty hard to test for?) they only think she might have it due to her eyesight. they think it might have made her susceptible to eye infections and she lost her sight from it going untreated, but I'm not all that convinced tbh! still quarantining her from our roomies sphynx in the mean time tho. (we have a large house so thank goodness shes n

    OP rigatonipast I used to get so upset about friends/family neglecting their animals and it made me swear off pets! I thought me having mental health issues would get in the way and I'd be the same as them. I didn't know that I could love a pet like this and she'll always be taken care of in the best ways possible with me around!!! depression/bipolar or not, her litter box is cleaned daily and her belly is always full at the same times.

    OaksInSnow There are mental health issues in my family. While maybe among some folks it leads to neglect, for others I think it leads to grounding and stability. I think you've found a good therapist in her.
