I (27F) live in an apartment complex where parking is assigned. Each unit gets one specific numbered spot. I've had spot #47 for the three years I've lived here. It's in my lease. Two
  • weeks ago, new neighbors moved into the building. Since then, someone has been parking in my spot almost daily. Not - occasionally almost every single day.
  • The first few times I left notes on the windshield saying "This is assigned parking, please use your assigned spot." Notes were ignored. I contacted the leasing
  • office. They said they'd "send a notice to the new resident" about parking assignments. Nothing changed. I've had to park in visitor parking (which is further
  • away and often full) or on the street multiple times. I'm paying for an assigned spot that I can't use.
  • Yesterday I came home at 10pm after a long day. My spot was taken AGAIN. Visitor parking was full. I had to park three blocks away on the street and walk back in the dark with groceries. I went
  • back to the leasing office this morning. The manager said "Have you tried talking to them directly?" I said I've left multiple
  • notes. She said "Well, I can't get involved in disputes between residents. You'll need to work it out between yourselves."
  • I'm so frustrated that I'm being told to "work it out myself" when this is literally a lease violation that management should be addressing.
  • Mason JarFlowers . Can you tow them?? Every apartment I have lived in that had assigned paid for parking, you can have a violator towed from your spot. I used tow people all of the time. Bc I paid $100 for my spot monthly so f**k em.
  • If your spot is in your lease, your management office is in breach of contract by not having the violators towed.
  • Ask for a refund or credit for not being able to use your spot. Send an email to management to have it in writing with photos of the dates and times the car has
  • been in your spot. Call the non emergency police line and ask them what their protocol is for someone parking in a private spot on private property.

  • Showmethe_monet. TOW THEIR A ES!!! This exact scenario happened to me. I had them towed twice (make sure you have your lease agreement showing that you pay for that assigned spot) Towed them. twice...guess who never parked in my f ing spot again
  • Global-Move-3525. Your leasing manager is not doing her job. Send an email to the corporate office explaining your situation and cc the leasing manager.
  • Attach a photo of the violation. Don't point fingers at the leasing manager. Just say that you have reported the ongoing incident and the situation has not been
  • resolved. Then put a note on the vehicle that you have contacted corporate to rectify the situation. Now it is all documented.
