  • I rent a duplex. We share a small garage that has exactly two outlets. One runs my chest freezer. I batch cook because my schedule is chaos, so that freezer is my little bank account of food. Three
  • weeks ago I opened it and it was soft inside. Everything was half thawed, sticky, gross. I cried a little, cleaned it, assumed it was a fluke.
  • Two days later it happened again. I finally noticed the orange extension cord draped over my freezer going to my neighbors shiny e- bike. Outlet switch was off. Cool.
  • I knocked and told him he cannot use that outlet, it is on my half and also it kills my freezer. He said "it takes like no power, you can share, be neighborly." I said no,
  • showed the spoiled food, showed the breaker map the landlord left. He rolled his eyes and said I should. buy a better freezer. That night I bought a tiny outlet lock box and plugged the freezer
  • through it. Next morning the lock box had pry marks and the extension cord was back. He had unplugged the whole thing from the wall, plugged in his bike, and
  • wrote a note: "text when you are done." I was done with being nice. I emailed the landlord with photos, receipts of the ruined food, and the lock. Landlord came over,

  • CocoaAlmonds Rock He should have to pay for your spoiled food!
  • theBearded_Levy You should reciprocate with an invoice for the lost food, the increase power usage for his charging and the damaged lock box.
  • jewelophile Make sure your landlord is aware of how much of a fire hazard those e-bike batteries can be. You're not supposed to use extension cords with them either. They can even void insurance claims if fire occurs.
  • TedBurns-3 How exactly did you STEAL $68 worth of electric by locking it?
  • AdAccomplished6870 Wait, so by giving you a bill, he acknowledged he was stealing your electricity? Small claims court for the theft and the food
  • Spalding Penrodthe3rd Wow !!! If I was in that situation his e bike would have gotten mangled. Wtf
  • JEWCEY Small claims court for the food loss. And wear a pin to court with a smiley face on it.
  • Crafty_Original_7349 I would use wire cutters and snip the plugs off all his charging cords just to get my point across, but I am very petty
  • No_Delivery_4607 To get back, put a little grease or oil on his brake rotors. Not a lot. Just a drop or 2. Grease/oil getting on the brake pads will contaminate them, making them annoyingly loud every time he uses them. It essentially ruins the pads. He will spend what he made you lose on food on brake pads very quickly if you do this a few times
