  • "Karma for entitled homeowner who thinks they own lake access"

MN_crafter https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/1op7y7y/karma_for_entitled_home_owner_who_thinks_they_own/ - We have a home in a gated community in Florida with a boat ramp and dock in a lake.
  • MN_crafter https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/1op7y7y/karma_for_entitled_home_owner_who_thinks_they_own/ - The community doesn't own the lake, and other homes around the lake have their own private access.
  • MN_crafter https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/1op7y7y/karma_for_entitled_home_owner_who_thinks_they_own/ - Our access is for homeowners within our gated community only. A few years back, some home owner installed post and a padlocked chain across the boat ramp, preventing anyone from putting in boats.
  • MN_crafter https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/1op7y7y/karma_for_entitled_home_owner_who_thinks_they_own/ - No idea who did it, but the HOA cut the lock and removed the chain. So ridiculous!
  • MN_crafter https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/1op7y7y/karma_for_entitled_home_owner_who_thinks_they_own/ - Last year a homeowner (no idea if it was the same one) had their boat in at the dock, and would drive his truck down and park it on the grass by the dock.
  • MN_crafter https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/1op7y7y/karma_for_entitled_home_owner_who_thinks_they_own/ - Parking on grass isn't allowed as it kills it. He was told numerous times to stop and to park in the small lot farther up from the ramp.
  • MN_crafter https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/1op7y7y/karma_for_entitled_home_owner_who_thinks_they_own/ - Finally all that worked was for the HOA (via board volunteers) to put up two no parking signs on the grass, spaced to block the possibility of parking.
  • MN_crafter https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/1op7y7y/karma_for_entitled_home_owner_who_thinks_they_own/ - From then on, he started parking on the pavement at the bottom of the ramp, blocking anyone else from putting in a boat.

  • MN_crafter https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/1op7y7y/karma_for_entitled_home_owner_who_thinks_they_own/ - Again, he was warned, and didn't change his ways, until one day when someone was actually blocked and notified a board member to call towing.
  • MN_crafter https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/1op7y7y/karma_for_entitled_home_owner_who_thinks_they_own/ - The tow company came out and at some point in the process, the truck rolled back into the lake up to the doors
  • MN_crafter https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/1op7y7y/karma_for_entitled_home_owner_who_thinks_they_own/ - I'm sure insurance covered the damage, but still nice that he had to deal with karma for his entitlement!
  • Ghostofclaybobpast People love to hate HOAS because the relatively rare stories of entitled dickheads who run them always make it to reddit. But they can also help with entitled dickhead neighbors who try and make everyone else's life miserable.
  • OP MN_crafter Exactly. Our HOA board works hard (without compensation) to improve our community. Putting in speed bumps (from Craigslist to reduce cost) to stop the idiots who insist on racing through the community and many other jobs that would need to be hired out. The HOA manager sends fines to people who don't clean up after dogs and leave junk in their yard, hires security, etc. I don't see the problem if it's all dealt with respectfully. If you don't want to have standards and you don't wa
  • TedW Sounds like the tow company probably bought him a new truck after destroying his old one. I don't think this hurt the entitled ass-hat much, if any.
  • OP MN_crafter He still has the same truck, so I guess it wasn't totaled.
  • sin_smith_3 I worked for a city that bordered a lake. We had no legal jurisdiction over the lake, but we would contribute emergency resources whenever needed. The lake was a reservoir and in our state, reservoirs are owned by the state. We would get a lot of complaints from our lake front properties about boaters fishing or idling too close to the property line, or people walking along the shore and "trespassing". Sorry. Your property ends 10 feet from the highwater mark and the lake itself is p
  • topio3 I feel weir reading the word HOA in a context where they are NOT the villains of the story
  • JDVaderstorytime It's a beautiful thing when an entitled ass-hat bully gets exactly what he deserves. I would have stood there laughing like a maniac when his truck got filled with swampy FL water.
  • SomePersonality 1553 Instant karma! That's what happens when you're a jerk to everyone
  • dssstrkl Not me feeling gross that I'm on the HOA's side on this one
  • freerangelibrarian There's a place in Newport RI called the Cliff Walk. It was originally used by fishermen and the servants of the wealthy people who had mansions next to the ocean. The rich folks kept on putting up fences and barriers so they didn't have their view spoiled by working people. The barriers were torn down every time.
  • Existing_Proposal655 Doubtful. Owner is only entitled to what the truck is worth and even that is a little shaky since the owner was illegally parked and received several warnings.
