  • So I've been working at this company for a while, and things went downhill fast when I started speaking up about how my manager treated me differently from others.
  • I documented everything - even wrote a 15-page report showing how I was singled out to go to the office five times a week when others didn't have to, got criticized for "too much overtime" even though it was literally 5 hours in a year (which is normal in accounting), and how every little thing I did was picked apart.
  • After I sent the document, HR actually did something they reassigned my manager to another team.

  • So clearly there was some truth to what I said. But here's the kicker: I'm still on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) that she started, and no one has removed it or apologized for how messed up this all was.
  • The union guy's useless and basically told me to "just cooperate." HR says the PIP has to run its course "for fairness." The new manager's decent, but it's like I'm wearing a target on my back after exposing what happened.

  • I already have another job offer, but part of me wants to make sure people know how wrong this all was maybe even file a complaint or something official.
  • Office coworkers pretending to be supportive while smiling around a colleague’s laptop, giving off a fake or hypocritical enthusiasm
  • Not sure what the right move is here: • Do I walk away quietly and start fresh?

  • • Push back to get the PIP removed from my record? • File something formal (labour relations, human rights, etc.) to leave a paper trail?
  • It's exhausting when you do the right thing, get proven right, and still end up being the one punished.
  • TL;DR: Reported unfair treatment and my boss got reassigned, but I'm still stuck with the PIP she created.

  • HR and union are useless. Got another offer but debating whether to just leave or push back before I go.
  • parkesc Show all your former coworkers everything you're talking about, let them know why you were put on a PIP and why you're quitting, resign without notice, and let the higher ups deal with the fallout.
  • OP itsMineDK I've thought about quoting with no notice, i wish i could just get fired in a month instead

  • PMProfessor Take the other job! Leave with no prior notice. Nobody survives a PIP, don't even try.
  • OP itsMineDK agreed, the union rep says he has had some folks survive it.. but I kind of don't trust him, he's very passive and avoids work
  • auntysos Even if you survive the PIP it will be on your file, and be there for any new manager coming in. Despite being invalid - it's there. Take the new job. Use all entitlements you have first! If you feel that you need to warn folks, share the documentation you compiled with your team and the new team.

  • Fair-Hotel-2095 Make sure you use that PTO/Vacation time if you have it before leaving. As a given, don't tell anyone you're leaving.
  • Uslstelychah Congratulations on surviving HR dodgeball-take the new job and run
  • kpsi355 OP's in a union, so this advice isn't as guaranteed.
