Want to constantly complete "do-good" tasks on my property despite being told multiple times not to? I'll make sure you have the attention of the entire neighborhood at 6:30am so you get the recognition you're so desperate for.

already know this could be worse and it's not the end of the world, but it's like d th by 1000 cuts to my patience with this guy.

He doesn't comprehend the concept of boundaries. He lives in a shitty apartment building next door to us.
  • 04
Our homes are separated by a small grass of lot that we own. He takes the liberty of coming onto our property "helping" without asking.
  • 05
I know, I'm petty and mean, but I HATE it. I come from a rural area where you have privacy, separation, and you just don't take the liberty of going onto your neighbors property but for some reason because this is "town", people just tolerate it?
  • 06
He's been told numerous times by my fiancé kindly, not so kindly, to stop, we can take care of our own, but it doesn't sink in.
  • 07
Family tries to guilt us for being irritated because he hAs Such A BiG hEaRt but this is coming from people who don't have an unwelcome dude lurking around the exterior of their home every chance he gets, so IDGAF what they have to say.

He comes onto our property and goes BEHIND OUR SHED to retrieve our garbage and recycling bins at 8am the day BEFORE trash pickup and drags them up our driveway to the street, flipping the dog out in the process who barks and wakes me up on Sundays.
  • 09
He once took the liberty of "cleaning up" while we weren't home and raked an area of our grass in our BACK YARD BETWEEN OUR SHED AND HOME, NOT EVEN ON THE PROPERTY LINE, and ripped out a shrub my fiancé and I planted together (yeah yeah, first shrub we planted together, it was symbolic and important).

He trimmed weeds on the OTHER side of our home that borders the other neighbor. I saw him later that day on his hands and knees in the grass in front of OUR home, re arranging the little flags we had stuck in the ground.
  • 11
Dude has on multiple occasions walked up to my car in my driveway to initiate friendly stupid conversation as I'm coming or going.
  • 12
One time I came home literally in the middle of a breakdown crying I was so upset over something and he walked to my driver's side door, between my car and my house, and proceeded to lean on my house obliviously carrying on conversation apparently too dumb to recognize I was upset.

    Person in Snow with Shovel
  • 14
Dudes clueless. I fled in my car to get away. The other day we had first snow and he comes INTO OUR DRIVEWAY that goes between our home and OUR GRASS LOT and proceeds to clear the snow off my work vehicle (do NOT touch my vehicles but definitely NOT my work vehicle wtf) and one of my personal vehicles on the street in front of OUR house.
  • 15
Running his gloves and brush across the paint. I was FUMING. This morning, I snapped. 630AM on a day I get to sleep in and I wake up to SSCCCCRRRRAAAAAAPE, SCRAPE, SCRAPE because he's "shoveling" the 1 centimeter of snow that fell on OUR stretch of sidewalk right outside the bedroom window.
  • 16
Aka just scraping the shovel endlessly on the asphalt because apparently he has NOTHING better to do.
  • 17
I hopped out of bed and came downstairs just in time to see him 2 inches from my living room window wedged between my work vehicle and house clearing snow off said vehicle.
  • 18
The living room window that's supposed to be safe and blocked by my work car so I can let light in without the outside world seeing me in my home.
  • 19
I grabbed my keys, and the SECOND he put his fucking hands on my personal vehicle, I hit the panic alarm.
  • 20
He stopped and stared at the house until the alarm stopped. He went to continue mission and I hit the panic again.
  • 21
He acted annoyed and walked away, SCRAAAAAPING his way back to his home where he fucking belongs.
  • 22
You want attention for being sOo HeLpFuLL? You got it.
  • 23
I can't wait to move back to the country and leave this fishbowl bullshit behind. Until then, my petty level will be at 1000 with my car keys in hand because apparently this guy has to be trained like a dog where "BEEP!" means "NO!".

CJCrave I don't think you've got enough here for a restraining order, but you can definitely get him charged with trespassing, especially if you have signs up or any documentation of you asking him to stay off of your property.
  • 25
OP Shot_Razzmatazz5560 Agreed, not enough for a restraining order where we live, unfortunately.
  • 26
different-take4u Call the cops for a peeping tom / trespasser. File a vandalism report for your company vehicle saying all the scratches were made by him. When the weather is better spray him with a hose.
  • 27
OP Shot_Razzmatazz5560 "Its hot out, I was JUST TRYING TO HELP keep you cool"
  • 28
Echale3 There's a reason my wife and I found a house on some land where we are the only house in the holler and our closest neighbor is 0.35 miles away... It's the same reason you can't wait to GTF out of town, LOL!
  • 29
OP Shot_Razzmatazz5560 If you can see your neighbors, you live too close
  • 30
froggymail We have motion activated sprinklers for the deer issues........just saying
  • 31
OP Shot_Razzmatazz5560 I mean we are trying to grow more grass on the lot so.... it would be legit
  • 32
K_A_irony I would try ONE more time to talk to him. "You are waking me up and disrupting my animals and the quiet of my home. I do not want you on our property ever even if you think you are doing us favors" If he does it again, have a lawyer write a cease and desist letter. THAT might scare him off. If THAT doesn't work the cease and desist MIGHT start giving you some basis for an actual restraining order. This guy sounds exhausting.
  • 33
OP Shot_Razzmatazz5560 That's really what it is. I feel guilty when I'm not raging inside because technically they're acts of help but at the end of the day, I want to exist in and around my home without feeling like I have to entertain someone who's constantly THERE.
  • 34
RandomCoffeeThoughts You know what else gets people like this to leave you alone? Start treating them like an employee. You missed a spot. That mowing job was terrible. Next time I expect you to sweep the driveway after shoveling. It's stupid, but I have had a few "helpful" neighbors in my day. This isn't nice, but it redirects the help to someone else every time.
  • 35
OP Shot_Razzmatazz5560 I accepted his help one time and worked him till I thought he was going to pass out. It was super hot and he clearly survives off mtn dew and doritos. He's not obese just has that "unhealthy" look to him. I did give him a tall ice cold glass of liquid IV afterwards. But this is what led to him taking on the shrub- destroying mission when I wasn't home, so that was the end of my help acceptance LOL
